Just Wondering what ye think about LOTRO, Some friends have the trial and say its a good laugh, thinking about getting the trial and proberly full version (best way to get a real feel for the game) and give it ago.

Just wondering are there any Major Flaws to it?
As Hellgate Londen and Age Of Conan where pretty hyped up and eventually just failed. I Know LOTRO has been around for a good while so it must be stable, But just because its been around for a while doesn't make it a good game.

What do ye think about it?

From what I've heard, if you want good pve - yeah.
If you want pvp - NO. Only one area for players at 45-50 level (50 being the cap), so you won't play for most of the game.

LOTRO is indeed stable game doing ok with decent community.

ITs still standard MMO.

I've been playing LOTRO since closed beta and the game is one of the very few MMOs who had an excellent, smooth and stable release. The game has been in this state ever since. The game has gotten many free additions ingame from areas to new skills to new quests and epic books (like missions in GW). This fall, there will be the first expansion to come out, the Mines of Moria. There is indeed a storyline in LOTRO, based on LOTR of course, and while we do interact with characters from the books and follow them around, we indeed have our own storyline in LOTRO so it's not too predictable. The quests are well written and the game is engaging. The graphics are beautiful and realistic.

You will love this game:

- If you like to participate in a storyline à la GW.
- If you are a casual PvE player who want to play a casual PvE non-gear oriented MMO (unlike WoW).
- If you like to enjoy the journey in a MMO and not being pushed to the end-game as fast as possible to raid non stop (unlike WoW).
- If you like a mature and friendly community.
- If you like getting good support and getting listened by the devs.
- If you like getting new free updates regurlarly.
- If you like playing a stable mostly bug-free MMO.
- If you are a Tolkien fan and want to enjoy discovering all those things you read about and those Easter Eggs in the game.
- If you enjoy well written and engaging quests.

It's crap. I mean crap. Imagine WoW copied and pasted into LOTR, with none of the pathetic grind and fail elements taken out. Quests usually involve: Kill 5Wolves, and with 500 other people all doing it, it just becomes totally stupid.

In a nutshell, any relevance to LOTR is pointless because in the long run you'll just be running around a very poor looking world doing meaningless quests and paying to play it at the same time.

Also the storyline tends to involve reading about 5 paragraphs of dialouge at every quest, I didn't even read the GW quest logs so they were instantly skipped which made me question why 500 people were all trying to kill wolves?

Heh, I tend to agree that if a company is charging you monthly to play their game the least they could do is update their graphics engine. Some pay to play games have horrendous graphics.

Seriously I've become overly impressed with GW in this regard. Not only is it no subscriptions but the graphics and animations are pretty damn good all things considered.

All i can conclude from this post is that the game has typical (and expected) 'kill this' quests and that you dont like it. Basically your post isnt helpful at all.
